A specially designed and structured dance program for young children who want to dance and have fun.

While continuing to perfect motor skills, dancers will also learn rhythm, balance, co-ordination, technique and choreography. Classes will be instructed by an experienced and certified dance instructor specializing in this age division.

Classes offered:

  • Ballet & Jazz - 30 minute weekly class (Ages 2-3yrs)
  • Hip Hop Micro - 45 minute weekly class (Ages 3-5yrs)
 
KINDER KIDS

A specially designed and structured dance program that prepares and conditions kinder dancers into budding stars.

Throughout the dance year rhythm, co-ordination, technique, strength, flexibility and choreography will be instructed by an experienced and certified dance instructor specializing in this age division.

Kinder dance is a fun dance intensive program with a strong focus on dance fundamentals, terminology and technique. This engaging and energetic program is designed to help your child build a strong dance foundation while building confidence and having fun.

Classes offered:

  • Ballet/Jazz & Tap - 1 hour weekly class (Ages 4-5yrs)
  • Hip Hop Micro - 45 minute weekly class (Ages 3-5yrs)

Dancers enrolled in our "Stars On Stage" program, for Mini dancers Ages 6-7 years, will receive the full dance experience!

Dance is a performing art and at Pulse we give our dancers opportunities to shine!

Dancers enrolled in this program will learn technique and choreography in both Jazz and Tap. Both Jazz and Tap routines will perform and compete at one local dance competition and partake in our year end Showcase! The Jazz and Tap classes are held once weekly back to back (2hrs) on the same day of the week and our fees for this program are unbeatable!

*NOTE: Mini Dancers may also enroll in Ballet, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Stretch and Conditioning classes.

 
BALLET
BALLET

This class is mandatory for all competitive dancers.

Ballet, being the root of many dance forms, focusses on developing, learning and advancing dance technique in a positive and encouraging atmosphere at Pulse Dance Works.

Whether you have studied Vaganova, Cecchetti, R.A.D. or other Ballet methods, the essential Ballet dance skills taught in each class are as follows:

  • Technique (barre and centre)
  • Control
  • Strength
  • Flexibility
  • Extension
  • Poise and Elegance

Dancers will also learn a variety of turns, leaps and jumps, classical repetoire as well as original choreography. Classes are conducted to classical musical. Classes are very structured and disciplined, yet very fun, positive and encouraging.

*Pointe classes are offered to experienced ballet dancers, 12 years and up, who have a strong Ballet background and who continue to take ballet classes in soft shoe as well.

*Highly Recommended by Pulse for any New dancer OR Serious dancer, as Ballet is the root of all dance forms (excluding Hip Hop).

A fun and energetic form of dance combined with ballet technique, strength, flexibility and high cardio. Learn how to do a variety of amazing turns, jumps/leaps, splits while incorporating dance technique and fluidity of movement.

*Ballet is highly recommended as a secondary class for improvement of turn out, stretched knees and feet, poise and grace.

Highly Recommended by Pulse for any New dancer OR Serious dancer, as Jazz is a Dance Foundation class which will highly contribute to the improvement in other dance forms!

 
TAP
TAP

This class is mandatory for all competitive dancers.

Performed with specially designed shoes (metal taps on the heel & ball of the shoe) artistically used to create sounds and rhythms. The lively and rhythmic tapping produced by these shoes makes the performer not just a dancer, but also a percussive musician.

*Ballet and/or Jazz is highly recommended as a secondary class for improvement of dance technique, fluidity of movement, poise and grace.

Hip hop is a street dance style, usually danced to hip hop music, which evolved from the hip hop culture. Hip hop is a very energetic form of dancing. It is unique in that it allows its dancers to perform with freedom of movement, adding in their own personalities. Commonly seen in Music Videos, T.V. shows and movies, you too can learn to increase your confidence and skills in our high energy classes and develop your own dance style.

For Ages 3-5 years, we offer a specially designed program which is an introduction to Hip Hop and Urban styles. While continuing to perfect personal motor skills, memory and increase self confidence in this class, young boys and girls will also focus on rhythm, balance, co-ordination, musicality, cardio and strength while learning fun dance moves and choreography all while developing their own personal style.

A combination of Ballet & Jazz technique for the “experienced” dancer, performed to slow tempo music. Dancers will be expressing the lyrics and emotion of the song through dance choreography.

*Classes are offered to experienced dancers 12 years and up, who have both an advanced Ballet & Jazz dance background.

 
ACROBATICS TUMBLING

Although physically demanding, Acrobatics is a very fun, rewarding and visually stunning gymnastics/dance discipline also known as "AcroDance". AcroDance is the beautiful fusion of the artistic motion of dance and the athleticism of Acrobatics. Pulse Dance Works Inc. is an ACROBATICS ARTS certified studio.

Our classes focus on the flexibility of the back and legs as well as full body strength. Learn to do a variety of acrobatic tricks and flips. Our Acrobatics program follows the structured and progressional levels of the "Acrobatic Arts" syllabus to properly train dancers' bodies to advance to the next level only when they are ready for it. This greatly reduces the potential for injury, creates more technically correct work, and helps dancers to progress more quickly (in the long run).

Advanced acrobats will work on tumbling such as walkovers, aerials, forward and backward handsprings etc., once they have mastered the necessary skill level requirements set out by the Acrobatic Arts syllabus.

*A Ballet and/or Jazz class is mandatory as a secondary class to help increase turn out, stretched knees and feet, control, poise, grace and dance transitional movement. It is recommended that dancers ages 7 yrs+ take Acrobatics and an additional 2 classes (ex: Ballet, Jazz, Technique, Strength & Conditioning) per week to advance and see results.

**Flexibilty & Strength MUST be regularly practiced at home in addition to your weekly class in order to progress, achieve results and stay on track with your class.

Musical Theatre is an incorporation of lip synching, drama & dance choreography combined.

Song & Dance is offered to those who wish to become a "Triple Threat" as it involves singing, drama and dance choreography. Students enrolled in Song & Dance must be enrolled in vocal training.

*A Ballet and/or Jazz class is mandatory as a secondary class for dance technique and dance transitional movement.

 
MUSICAL THEATRE
HIP HOP FIT (Adult Class)

No prior dance experience or fitness experience required. Just let loose, have some fun and work it out at your own pace!

SALSA & LATIN SOCIAL (Adult Class)

Our fun and lively “Salsa & Latin Social” dance program focuses on basic to intermediate dance skills in Salsa, Merengue and Bachata. Not only will you get a great workout, but you will learn rhythm, coordination, self-confidence as well as the fundamental Latin dance steps that you can use anywhere. When you hear Latin music and rhythms you will feel confident to dance and have a blast whether it be at events, festivals, on vacation or anywhere for the rest of your life.

This class is offered in 5 or 6 week, weekly sessions on a set day and time, and is offered in-studio and online.

*A Partner is not mandatory, but is recommended.

**Please note this program is not ballroom dancing, it is strictly Latin Social.

***No prior dance experience required.

Helps to build and increase level of confidence as well as skill in social dancing to all varieties of music. (Social dancing is Strictly Social, not Ballroom).

We also can choreograph and/or teach you dance skills to make your first wedding dance, a beautiful and memorable performance.
